Privacy Policy

Reader.md processes the current page locally in the browser to create a sanitized reader view and optional HTML or Markdown output.

The extension does not collect, sell, share, transmit, or remotely process page contents, URLs, metadata, extracted HTML, Markdown, clipboard contents, or saved files. It does not include analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party network calls.

The extension stores only user preferences, such as the default action, Markdown frontmatter setting, source metadata setting, and filename pattern. Page content is stored only temporarily in Chrome extension session storage so the reader tab can display and act on the extraction result. That session data is not synced and is cleared by the browser.

Files are saved only when the user chooses a save action. Clipboard content is written only when the user chooses a copy action or configures a copy action as the default toolbar behavior.

Permissions are used only for the extension's single purpose:

• activeTab: read the current page after the user invokes the extension.
• scripting: inject the packaged extraction script into the active page.
• storage: save preferences and temporary reader sessions.
• downloads: save sanitized HTML or Markdown files.
• clipboardWrite: copy sanitized HTML or Markdown to the clipboard.
